Primary areas of responsibility include overseeing all contracting activities, providing legal advice, ensuring corporate compliance, overseeing licensing, managing all litigation activity, ensuring SEC compliance, supporting M&A activity, and driving ESI's public affairs efforts at both the Federal and State levels.   RESPONSIBILITIES  At the direction of senior management, this position will manage legislative, regulatory and policy initiatives impacting Express Scripts at the state level.  Directly advocate on behalf of ESI before state legislative and executive branch officials on pending policy and regulatory activities.  Represent ESI in key state and national policy/trade group/coalition activities (e.g, NAIC, PCMA, NCSL).  Provide leadership and support to special projects and activities as assigned.   QUALIFICATIONS  BA/BS degree in political science, public administration, public policy, communications or related field or equivalent work experience; graduate or law degree preferred Minimum 5-10 years of direct government affairs/legislative advocacy/policy experience in private sector, government and/or trade association Knowledge of state legislative and regulatory process, and healthcare system experience is highly preferred Strong verbal and written communication skills a must Ability to professionally manage multiple tasks in a demanding and stressful work environment Excellent organization, verbal and written skills High level of confidence, integrity, enthusiasm, a hands-on approach to problem solving, executive presence and a personality that fits a fast-paced, energetic and proactive organization EEO STATEMENT  Express Scripts is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and will not discriminate against or harass any applicant or employee on any grounds prohibited under any federal, state or local law, including race, creed, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or membership in any other legally protected class.  None of the questions in our application are intended to elicit information regarding any protected characteristics, nor imply any limitation, illegal preferences or discrimination based up non-job related information or protected characteristics.  Express Scripts maintains a drug-free work environment.  To apply, please visit www.express-scripts.com/career and refer to Job ID 7524.
