Minneapolis seeks a Staff Attorney to join our Insurance Litigation Department. The
position is ideal for an experienced insurance or products liability defense litigation
attorney who wants the intellectual challenge, camaraderie and excitement of working
with a top tier litigation department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three
years of relevant legal experience working with complex insurance coverage claims or
products liability defense in a major law firm. Strong candidates will also have good
communication skills, be team-players, have strong research and writing skills and have
strong academic credentials. Deposition and motion practice experience strongly
desired.
This position is a full-time, non-partnership track position and the Insurance Litigation
Department Staff Attorney will be eligible for many of the benefits described by the
Firm’s current policies for attorneys, including licensing expenses, state bar association
membership in Minnesota, CLE expenses, 3 weeks of vacation, nine paid holidays,

Responsibilities include client management, reviewing and summarizing medical
records, drafting and responding to discovery requests, and researching and
writing memoranda & motions, along with a wide variety of other tasks associated
with complex tort litigation.

On February 24th, 2011, the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association (MHBA) held its 6th Annual Gala in Minneapolis, MN.
The event promoted the MHBA-HNBA partnership and served as a membership drive for the HNBA. Mara Garcia Kaplan, MHBA President, spoke of the close working relationship between the two organizations and the many benefits of being an HNBA affiliate.
Román D. Hernández, Immediate Past HNBA President; Peter M. Reyes, HNBA Vice President for Sections and Committees; and Zuraya Tapia-Hadley, HNBA Executive Director, were also in attendance and presented a $90,000 check to the MHBA as a result of the profit sharing agreement from the HNBA 35th Annual Convention, which was co-hosted with MHBA.
The keynote speaker of the evening was Congressman Keith Ellison (MN-5).
The MHBA is proud to co-host William Mitchell Latino/a Law Student Association’s 5th Annual Cesar Chavez Dinner on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. at the William Mitchell College of Law Auditorium. The theme for this year’s event is Democracy and Freedom: Continuing the Legacy into the 21st Century.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton on Tuesday officially announced a judicial vacancy in Minnesota’s Third Judicial District Court, a position which serves Freeborn County.
The announcement comes after Freeborn County District Court Judge John A. Chesterman retired in January.
